This easy Instant Pot Singhare Halwa – Vrat Chestnut Flour Halwa can be made using your pressure cooker in just a few minutes. It has a nutty flavor, is delicious and perfectly sweet.

  1. Select sauté on the instant pot and adjust to normal. Further add in ghee to the pot.
  2. When the ghee is hot, add in singhare atta, and stir well.
  3. Continue stirring until the color changes and it get fragrant. This should take about 4 to 5 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile bring 1 and 1/2 cup water and ½ cup milk to a boil in a small bowl for 3 minutes in a microwave. Additionally, you can even do this on a stove top.
  5. When the color of the flour changes in the pot, add in the warm milk + water. Then, add in slivered almonds, ground cardamom (optional). Stir well.
  6. Next add in sugar and keep stirring until the sugar dissolves and the water dries out completely. Select cancel.
  7. Finally, transfer in a serving bowl and garnish with additional nuts. Serve warm.

Notes

  • This can also be made on the stove top since it doesn’t require pressure. However, I literally use my instant pot for cooking everything. So, I decided to try this recipe out using sauté mode.
  • The key to making this halwa is to add boiling milk and water. Also it needs to be stirred continually in order to prevent it from getting lumpy.
  • This halwa tastes best when it is fresh.
