Prep
- Rinse the rice well until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in 4 cups water for about 10 minutes. This step is key since it makes the rice nice and fully.
Cook
- Close the lid and select manual for 6 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes and then quick release the pressure. Finally open the lid, fluff the rice with a fork, add ghee or smoked mustard oil and mix well.
Notes
Traditionally, this recipe uses mustard oil. However, you can use ghee too. If you are using mustard oil, heat it in a pan on medium heat until smoky. This step needs to be done to eliminate the raw smell of mustard oil. However, if you are using ghee you can eliminate this step and add ghee directly to the cooked rice.
