This Rose Makhana Strawberry Smoothie, had me begging for more. Moreover, this healthy smoothie has all the comforting flavors.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 and 1/2 medium ripe banana (1 cup chopped)
  • 1/2 cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar (or sweetner of choice)
  • 1/2 cup foxnuts (phool makhana) roasted
  • 3/4 cup almond milk, unsweetened (or milk of choice)
  • 1/2 tsp rose essence
  • a few unsalted pistachios for garnish
  • a few dried rose petals, for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Dry roast the foxnuts. Heat a frying pan on the stovetop over low heat. When the pan is hot, add a single layer of foxnuts. Additionally, do not add any oil or cooking spray. Stir frequently with a spatula until they turn crisp and golden. Make sure not to brown them. They can burn easily. It should take about 10 to 12 minutes. However, keep monitoring.
  • When slightly cool, grind the nuts in a spice grinder or a blender.
  • Make the smoothie by blending the ground foxnuts, almond milk, sugar, bananas, strawberries, and rose essence. Blend until velvety smooth; pour into a glass. Finally top off with unsalted pistachios, a few roasted foxnuts and dried rose petals.
