Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 3 minutes
Total Time 18 minutes
Servings: 4
Course: Appetizer, Side Dish
Cuisine: Indian

Ingredients

  • 3 cups yogurt, plain
  • 3 cups okra (I used frozen) (bhindi)
  • 1 and 1/4 tsp ground cumin    (jeera powder)
  • 3/4 tsp chaat masala
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp red chili powder  (cayenne pepper)
Tempering

Method

  1. Rub the air fryer basket with a brush and some oil oil and preheat at 350°F for 5 minutes. When the air fryer is preheated, place the okra in a single layer. Set the time and temperature (350°F for 9 minutes). Finally, when done toss and cook again 380°F for 4 minutes. Alternatively, if you don’t want it super crispy and brown you can air fry only for 2 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Place the plain yogurt in the bowl, and whisk it well until smooth. Further, add in ground cumin, chaat masala, salt, sugar and red chili powder. Mix well. Further add in the air fried okra and mix well and set aside.
  3. In a pan on medium heat add oil. When the oil is hot add in asafoetida,  cumin seeds, and mustard seeds. Once the seeds sizzle add in curry leaves, and whole dried red chilli peppers. Sauté for a minute or two and turn off heat. Add the tempering to the raita.
