- Cut the plantains like fries. Score your plantain peels lengthwise with a knife, and then remove the peels. Further, cut your plantains in half, and again cut the halves in half so you get four half cylinders. Slice them into thin strips like fries. Try to be somewhat consistent with the size to allow for even cooking. Also, don’t slice them very thin.
- Once you have sliced the plantains, place the strips a mixing bowl, add in salt, red chili powder, and 2 tbsp oil. Mix well.
- When you are ready to cook, grease the air fryer basket with 1/2 tbsp oil. I grease mine by rubbing, brushing, or spraying, a little bit of oil on the bottom grate. Furthermore, follow your air fryer directions for preheating to 350°F for 5 minutes. Finally, when it’s preheated, working in batches, place the plantains in a single layer.
- Air fry the fries at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 12 min or until they are crisp. At the 6-minute market toss and flip them.
- Lastly when the cooking is complete transfer the fries to a serving bowl and garnish with chaat masala.
