Prep
- Rinse the moriyo seeds well.
- Shred/grate the potatoes.
- Chop the bell pepper and cilantro finely.
Cook
- Place a pan on medium-heat. Add oil to the pan. When the oil is hot, add in cumin seeds.
- When the cumin seeds splutter, add curry leaves, green chilis and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add in shredded potatoes and 2 cups of water. Moreover, stir well.
- Add the diced bell peppers and bring it to boil (approx. 5 minutes). Keep stirring intermittently.
- Then, add the moriyo seeds, 2 more cups of water, turmeric and salt. Stir well.
- Cook for 6-8 minutes or until desired consistency is reached. Keep stirring intermittently. Finally, garnish with cilantro and serve. It should have a consistency like sooji upma. Most of the water needs to be evaporated.
