Rose Makhana Strawberry Smoothie

This Rose Makhana Strawberry Smoothie, had me begging for more. Moreover, this healthy smoothie has all the comforting flavors.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 and 1/2 medium ripe banana (1 cup chopped)
  • 1/2 cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar (or sweetner of choice)
  • 1/2 cup foxnuts (phool makhana) roasted
  • 3/4 cup almond milk, unsweetened (or milk of choice)
  • 1/2 tsp rose essence
  • a few unsalted pistachios for garnish
  • a few dried rose petals, for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Dry roast the foxnuts. Heat a frying pan on the stovetop over low heat. When the pan is hot, add a single layer of foxnuts. Additionally, do not add any oil or cooking spray. Stir frequently with a spatula until they turn crisp and golden. Make sure not to brown them. They can burn easily. It should take about 10 to 12 minutes. However, keep monitoring.
  2. When slightly cool, grind the nuts in a spice grinder or a blender.
  3. Make the smoothie by blending the ground foxnuts, almond milk, sugar, bananas, strawberries, and rose essence. Blend until velvety smooth; pour into a glass. Finally top off with unsalted pistachios, a few roasted foxnuts and dried rose petals.
