Kashmiri Saffron Tea Chai – Kesar Chai s a comforting warm drink that’s brimming with antioxidants. It’s a popular Kashmiri beverage that is soothing. Kashmiri Pandits typically consume three types of tea, which include Kehwa (a type of green tea), Sheer Chai, and saffron tea.

Although this is known as a tea it really doesn’t contain tea leaves. It is very easy and quick to make and is truly calming. It is truly a delicious and soothing caffeine-free beverage. It’s perfect for a cold winter morning.
There really is nothing more comforting than a good book and a cup of this delicious Kashmiri tea.
What ingredients do I need to make Kashmiri Saffron Tea Chai – Kesar Chai?
Water, saffron strands (approximately 20-25 strands), cinnamon stick 2 inch piece (dalchini), ground cardamom, slivered almonds, and sugar.
How do I make this recipe?
PREP – Using a mortar and pestle coarsely crush the cinnamon stick.
First place 4 cups water and in a small saucepan and bring the water to boil on high heat. Second, add in saffron strands, crushed cinnamon, ground cardamom and slivered almonds. Further let it boil for a minute. Next turn off the heat and cover with a lid for about a minute. Finally transfer in cups and top off with additional almonds.
This tea is supposed to be sweet however you can reduce the amount of sugar as per your taste. Moreover, you can also eliminate the sugar if you like.

- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom (elaichi powder)
- 1 and 1/2 tbsp slivered almonds (plus a few more to top off)
- 1 and 1/2 tbsp sugar (you can reduce or eliminate as per taste)
