What are Turkish Chicken Kebabs – Air Fryer Tavuk Şiş?
So these kebabs are popular in Middle Eastern cuisine (mainly Turkey, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Israel). Chicken is marinated in yogurt and a few spices. As per tasteatlas, the marinade is more typical of Turkish cuisine, while in other countries where şiş tavuk is prepared different spice blends are used. What ingredients do I need for this recipe?
1 to 1.25 pounds chicken (I used 2 chicken breasts), plain greek yogurt, garlic cloves. vegetable oil, tomato paste, Kosher salt, ground pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, oregano and onion.
How do I make this recipe?
First, chop the chicken to 2 to 3 inch cubes. Second, you extract the onion juice and garlic juice, using a blender, a grater or a juicer. Blend the onion and garlic together then pass it through the sieve pressing the onion downward. Collect the juice in a bowl and discard the pulp.
Further in a mixing bowl, add in the yogurt, add in the onion and garlic juice, 1 tbsp oil, kosher salt, spices (ground black pepper, cayenne pepper, ground cumin, and paprika), and tomato paste. Mix well. Furthermore add in the chicken and mix well.
Cover the marinated chicken bowl with a lid. Marinate the chicken for 30 minutes to an hour. Additionally you can also marinate it overnight in the refrigerator.
Air Fry-
When you are ready to cook, grease your Air Fryer basket with 1 tbsp oil. Then, follow your air fryer directions for preheating to 350°F for 5 minutes. When it’s preheated, working in batches, place the chicken in a single layer or in a skewer.
Finally, Using a meat thermometer ensure that the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165ºF before serving.
Drizzle the kebab with oregano.

- 1 to 1.2 pounds chicken (breasts or thighs) (I used 2 chicken breasts)

Cook
- When you are ready to cook, grease your Air Fryer basket with 1 tbsp oil. Then, follow your air fryer directions for preheating to 350°F for 5 minutes. When it’s preheated, working in batches, place the chicken in a single layer or in a skewer.
- Air fry for 18 minutes, at 360°F. When 8 minutes are remaining, flip the chicken gently with tongs and drizzle some oil. Also, every air fryer is different so check after the 15-minute mark. You can increase or decrease the time as per your liking.
- Finally, Using a meat thermometer ensure that the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165ºF before serving.
- Drizzle the kebab with oregano.
