It’s safe to say that I have a slight obsession with cheese. In addition to its wonderful taste, cheese provides plenty of nutrients. Additionally, grilled cheese can be used as a meat replacement. I love halloumi cheese because it’s so simple and quick to whip up, topped with Sriracha, olive oil, garlic powder, honey and sesame seeds.

Halloumi is a Cypriot cheese traditionally made from goat’s and sheep’s milk, or a mixture of the two. It is a semi-hard, un-ripened, and brined cheese with a slightly spongy texture and its great for grilling. Here is a link from the Spruce Eats that explains what Halloumi Cheese is.

Ingredients needed for this recipe?

Halloumi cheese, Sriracha sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, honey, and sesame seeds.

How do I make this recipe?

Toast sesame seeds – Firstly to toast sesame seeds, place the seeds in a dry skillet without oil over medium heat. Second, stir often with a wooden spoon, until the seeds are fragrant and golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Also, make sure to stay at the stove because the seeds can easily burn!

Further, chop the halloumi cheese to 3 inch cubes. Furthermore, in a bowl, add in Sriracha sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, honey, and mix well. Then, dip the Halloumi cheese in the mix from both sides and let it marinate for 4 to 5 minutes.

Place a pan on medium heat. Next, brush the pan lightly with olive oil. Further, sear the cheese in the hot pan until each slice develops a deep brown crust, about 1 minute on the first side and 1 to 2 minutes on the other. Take the cheese off the heat and serve immediately. The left over marinade sauce can be used as a dipping sauce.
